I received a letter from the U.S. Census Bureau....

informing me that in about a week I will be receiving my census form. I have two issues with this.

First, haven't we spent enough money on television commercials including a spot during the super bowl? Between Ed Begley Jr. and all of the media coverage, do I really need a letter in the mail informing me that I will be getting a census form in the mail?

Second, the letter stressed the importance of completing the census form to ensure you get your fair share of the government funds for your community, and gave directions to the website to go to in order to complete the form. This information was given in six different languages. Sorry, but if you can't read enough English to complete the census, I don't really care if you get your fair share of the funds!

I had not planned on publishing anything....

today, however, when I saw what I'm about to tell you I just had to stop what I was doing for a few moments....and....well, anyway here we go. As my fingers are typing away and the fate of this great nation of ours is like....well, one of those Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons....you know, where there is a gigantic boulder teetering on a pencil thin rock formation with Roadrunner pecking away at the ACME birdseed just below, while Barack....I'm sorry.... I meant Coyote....waits in the shadows imagining Roadrunner as a myriad of delicacies. Of course we all know how that story ends! Anyway, back on point....as I type, The U.S. Congress is right now....this very moment....debating....debating what you might ask? Is the suspense killing you yet? Alright, here we go.

The U.S. Congress is now debating....the current college football bowl system. Yes, you heard (or read as the case may be) me right! They are considering regulating the college football bowl system because they aren't sure if it is fair! This is a bipartisan effort! Finally, both parties can come together and agree on something....well it's about time....it's just too bad that it's on an issue THAT DOESN'T MATTER!!!!

I just don't know if words can adequately express my thoughts and feelings on this....and I really don't know if it's really necessary to expound on this any further....so I don't think that I will! However, I would recommend that anyone who reads this, look up you local congressperson and give them a call or send them an e-mail to let them know what you think of this.

I haven't had alot of extra time lately....

and, therefore, haven't wrote in a couple of weeks. It has not been for the lack of material....because there has been plenty. I, however, did not want this day to go by without addressing the milestone of this, the 100th day of the Obama administration. So just what has been "accomplished" in the "First 100 Days" of this administration?

First, I would like to say how refreshing it has been to see a President actually keep his word and do his best to make good on his campaign promises (I mean refreshing in a sort of appalled and disgusted kind of way....ok, so maybe refreshing wasn't the best word to use). Unfortunately his campaign promises were of an oversized, intrusive, big spending, socialistic bent government. The thing is, many of you didn't hear or see that coming because he buried it in coffee grounds, wrapped it in a pretty box with gold paper and red ribbons; then slapped a "Yes we can" sticker on it and walked right past you! Now....let's get to our list and take a look at some of the "accomplishments".

Not necessarily in chronological order:
1) Financial system bail-out. To be fair, the Bush administration started this fire. The Obama administration just poured gasoline on it.
2) Expansion of abortion funding both here and abroad.
3) Filled out a March madness bracket.
4) Expanded stem cell research.
5) Retraction of defense spending.
6) Proposing a new budget that would, by most projections, double our federal deficit.
7) Ran into a window that he thought was an open door (that's not a joke....he really did that).
8) Getting a stimulus spending bill pushed through that is packed with billions in wasteful spending that isn't going to stimulate much more that government growth. To be fair to Mr. Obama....no....that was quite fair!
9) Naming a Treasuring Secretary who was caught committing tax evasion.
10) Naming others to cabinet positions who had also committed tax evasion.
11) Took a Hawaiian vacation.
12) Ordered the closing of Guantanimo Bay detention center.
13) Changed the term "War on Terror" to "Overseas Contingency Operation".
14) Gave GM and Chrysler a bail-out.
15) Fired the CEO of GM.
16) Got a dog.
17) Is considering not allowing the Banks to pay back bail-out money but, instead converting the prefered stock the government holds to common stock which would, in essence, nationalize the banks (that whole socialism thing).
18) Has positioned the government to posibly take partial ownership of GM.
19) Made friends with Hugo Chavez.
20) Made a home video and sent it to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
21) Planted an herb garden.
22) Took a world tour and apologized to the world for all of the terrible things that the U.S.A. has done.
23) Bought a brand new, big screen, flat panel....teleprompter.
24) Became the first sitting President to appear on the Tonight Show.
25) Became the first sitting President to make fun of disabled people on national television.

So, in his first 100 days in office Mr. Obama has done more to put our country on the path to becoming a European type socialistic government than the previous eleven U.S. Presidents combined! Just imagine what he can do in four years! Now, if you are an ultra-liberal leftists, (which makes up the majority of the current administration, the House, and the Senate) you might think that was a compliment....trust me, it wasn't!

I know that some of you who read my blog....

think that I am a bit of a radical. Some of you are probably wondering "where did he get that idea"? Well, it was probably because of some comments made by one of my readers which made me ask them if they thought I was a radical, to which they answered something to the effect of...."yes". Now you're wondering who I'm talking about, but I won't mention any names so you will just have to keep wondering (love you honey). Anyway, I say all that to say this; maybe after reading this blog you will understand why I am so passionate about this stuff.

I was waiting in a doctor's office last weekend when I reluctantly picked up a magazine to read. I say reluctantly because every time I pick up a magazine in a doctor's office I think of all the sick people that have probably handled the magazines. Anyway, It was a political magazine and caught my attention so I began to read. I ran accross an article concerning the United Nations "Convention on the Rights of the Child" which was ratified by the U.N. as international law in September of 1990. All but two countries have signed onto and ratified this law, which are the U.S.A. and Somalia. We have resisted this law for almost twenty years, but as we all know...."change" has come to our country! Senator Barbara Boxer, a democrat from California, wants to see the U.S. join the other U.N. member countries and ratify this piece of international law. She is pressuring the Obama administration....she thinks that it is just terrible that we are "standing with Somalia". Well, Senator Boxer, that would be bad, but something tells me that the U.S.A. isn't "standing with Somalia" and I think you know that! As for Mr. Obama, when asked if he would seek ratification of the UNCRC he said "It's important that the United States return to its position as a respected global leader and promoter of Human Rights. It's embarrassing to find ourselves in the company of Somalia, a lawless land. I will review this and other treaties and ensure that the United States resumes its global leadership in Human Rights."

So, you are probably asking "what are the basic premises behind the UNCRC"? Well, I'm glad that you asked! Though it is too broad to completely cover here, the four core principles are; devotion to the best interest of the child, the right to life, survival and developement, and respect for the views of the child. The UNCRC protects children's rights by setting standards in health care, education, legal, civil, and social services. Let's take a quick look at the principle "respect for the views of the child". This has far-reaching ramifications as to the legal steps that a child could take concerning their opinions on issues such as religion and punishment. Personally I think that if you are a good and loving parent, the chances of your child taking you to court because they don't want to go to church are slim at best, but the potential is disturbing. Now lets look at our constitution; it says in Article VI that "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding". So, if we ratify this law, it will then be our law. Who will enforce this new U.S. law that has no origin in our country....an 18 member panel in Geneva....Switzerland! And I was worried about socialism....there are lawmakers wanting to hand over our sovereignty to the United Nations!

So, if you are or are planning to become a parent, please know that if the UNCRC is ratified by the United States of America, a panel of people in Switzerland, not elected by Americans, who aren't American citizens will help determine how you raise your children! My concerns don't stop at just this one potential U.N. law becoming U.S. law. Does the sovereign United States of America really want to go down the path of beginning to allowing our Constitution to be trumped by U.N. law! Something tells me that it won't stop with the UNCRC!

I new if I waited long enough....

that Mr. Obama would do something that I could agree with. Two weeks ago Mr. Obama ordered the end of using the phrase "Global War on Terror" and is instead going with the more palatable "Overseas Contingency Operation". After all....what is terror? Most of us westerners would associate terror with some act of violence or bloodshed....say for example....let's see....oh, I don't know....maybe a person that straps explosives to their body and goes into some crowded marketplace filled with innocent men, women, and children only to detonate his explosives, killing as many of said innocent people as possible. Let's see if I can come up with another example....uhm....huh....let's see....oh, wait a minute....I think I got it....let's say this same person, instead of doing the whole blow himself up in a crowded marketplace thing, gets some buddies and highjacks some passenger airliners and has them flown to a large U.S. city....let's say....New York....and crashes them into a couple of skyskrapers....oh....let's say The World Trade Towers....killing thousands, and another into some government building....let's say....oh, I don't know....how about the Pentagon. To most of us "westerers" this might be considered "terror", however, to another this may be considered "a vigorous emotional crusade for an idea or principle" (definition I found for Jihad).

After all, haven't we become a more "tolerant" nation? Whether it be race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or handicap status. We have learned to accept, or at least tolerate, those with differences. We may use words like violence, attack, horror, bloodshed, or a host of other adjectives to define terror, however, if this "act of terror" is just the Jihad of another....who are we to judge? Let's not forget the definition for Jihad is "a vigorous emotional crusade for an idea or principle". That doesn't sound so bad now does it? We are really just debating different view points....right? That must have been how Mr. Obama reasoned it all out when he changed "Global War on Terror" to "Overseas Contingency Operation". After all who are we to "war" againt "a vigorous emotional crusade for an idea or principle"? And this term terrorist....how offensive is that! Why don't we call them Crusaders? A definition I found for crusader is "a vigorous concerted movement for a cause or against an abuse". Yeah, that sounds much better! We wouldn't want to hurt any feelings with that nasty word terrorist! Thank you Mr. Obama for opening our eyes to our narrow way of thinking. So next time you're watching the news and see the picture of a terrorist....woops....I meant "crusader" flash across the screen, don't think of them as an extremist who thinks the U.S.A. is Satan and hates America and all that it stands for....and would like to see it wiped from the face of the earth and as many Americans as possible die in the process....no....think of this person as simply someone on a vigorous emotional crusade for an idea or principle.... then....get you a nice cup of herbal tea, light some aroma therapy candles and listen to John Lennons' Imagine and bask in a host of other delusions!

I'm so tired of hearing the same tired people....

clamoring that this great country of ours is drifting toward socialism! I, therefore, find it refreshing to hear more and more people echoing this "rhetoric". Is America finally waking up? Are we finally realizing the true Barack Obama? What's bringing this on....is it the recent mess in the banking industry? Is it that the U.S. government now owns 80% of A.I.G.? Or is it that the Obama administration has requested unprecedented power to take over troubled private companies as they deem necessary? Maybe it's the "bail out" of the auto industry....or that Mr. Obama basically single handedly fired the CEO of GM. It's possible that Mr. Wagoner needed to go, but is that really the duty of the "Comander in Chief"? If that wasn't enough, the U.S. government will now warranty your vehicle, acording to Mr. Obama. I know what some of you are thinking...."if the government is going to bail them out then they should have a say as to how the company is run"! I would say that is exactly why the government shouldn't be bailing them out! However, maybe it's because of the record deficit spending proposals by Mr. Obama, much of which is on "social" programs....or could it be that for the first time in sixty years or more the President of the United States of America is left of an already socialist Europe and in ways, left of Communist China!!!

Actually, I must admit that I really don't believe this myself. I mean....I'd like to....I would really love to believe that the majority of America has opened it's eyes and turned of it's teleprompter....with a current approval at just over 60%....I don't think so! So what does this tell us? Well, I think, one of two things....either most Americans still don't have a clue....now I don't mean this disrespectful, but I'm amazed at how many Americans know nothing about Barack Obama except that he is an eloquent speaker (not knowing that he is actually only an eloquent reader). The other scenario is that most Americans actually like the policies and philosophies of Mr. Obama. I find either of these scenario actually quite frightening....and I hope you do too!

Considering his being so eager....

to throw money at problems as if it's as easy to come by as cracking open a fortune cookie, it's good to see that Mr. Obama finally came up with a proposal to actually save money! Always being so negative and cynical concerning our new President, I thought I would write about this way that Mr. Obama is actually trying to save tax dollars. After all, you probably won't here about this story on DNCTV (a.k.a. MSNBC). So here is how it works. Let's say a young American decides to join the U.S. Army and gets stationed in Afghanistan. While on tour and laying his or her life on the line so that I might be able to enjoy my relatively comfortable life with my wife and children (thank you, by the way, and that was not sarcasm), this young soldier gets severely injured by a roadside bomb. Once this soldier is treated for injuries recieved in combat, the President wants the bill to be paid by the soldiers private insurance which, will save the V.A. an estimated $540 million. Veterans fear that this could hinder them from getting good affordable health insurance or even a job. After all, if the V.A. saves $540 million because they are passing those costs on to the veterans private health insurance, who do you think the private health insurance companies will pass these added costs on to? Now I understand that Mr. Obama has backed down on this proposal, however, once again not untill a huge backlash from concerned citizens and veterans. Now, I don't want to simply be critical, so I would like to give alternatives for saving tax dollars. How about the nearly $400 million the U.S. will spend annually on "family planning" in foreign countries! Or, how about $192 million for rum production in U.S. territories! Just those two items exceed what you were trying to save with veterans insurance, but if that's not enough there is a plethora of other earmarks in the omnibus spending bill for you to choose from! I'm just not sure if dumping medical costs on our veterans from injuries that they received in combat was the kind of "change" they were hoping for!
